  • You are invited to come help with the process of making Wesley Woods sorghum syrup. Come both days or for a small part of one. Please bring your own Water bottle and lunch.

    9:00 AM Stalk pressing and juice filtering

    11:30 AM Cook, stir, skim! Continue watching till done

    7:00-10:00 PM Bottling
    Equipment you are welcome to bring: Gloves, Corn Knife, Lawn Chair, Sunscreen, and Bug Spray. Dress in layers and wear sturdy close toed shoes.
• Sacred Connections Iowa United Methodist Laity Retreat                                   September 25-27, 2026
  • Check in from 6-7pm on Friday, September 25. Worship with Bishop Kennetha begins at 7pm. The retreat ends after lunch on Sunday, September 27.
  • Hosted by the Board of Laity and the Office of Leadership Development and Spiritual Formation, Sacred Connections is a retreat designed for UMC Laity who are longing to take time apart to connect deeply with God, creation and other United Methodists and to explore how God might be calling each one of us to take a next step in our discipleship. 
  • Choose from guided spiritual disciplines such as Yoga with Tricia Williams, Terra Divina (exploring God through nature) with Stephanie Heifner, Spirituality through Watercolor Painting with Sherrie Ilg, Discerning God’s voice through Dreamwork with Emily Peasley, Prayer journaling with Karen Nelson, Hearing God’s Call with Melissa Drake and more! We will also be offering complimentary sessions of Spiritual Direction with Mark Johnson and Karen Nelson.
  • Worship on Friday evening with Bishop Kennetha, Taize-style worship with Wendy Musgrave on Saturday Evening and closing worship with Communion on Sunday morning.
