Easy Ways You Can Support Iowa U.M. Camps

There really is no substitute for the fun and growth of going to summer camp, and there are lots of ways to make sure as many children as possible get to experience it. Here’s just a few of them to consider:

1. Volunteer Opportunities

We have many opportunities for you to partner with Wesley Woods in service to others. Get involved in our Equestrian Program by volunteering – Sidewalking/Mentoring HHP riders, Grooming and preparing horses, Barn and equipment cleanup, before and after lessons or Working with horses on the ground and in the saddle. Help with building and grounds work: painting cabins, building docks, creating new program equipment, and working in the gardens are just a few of these opportunities. We also appreciate your support through prayer and sharing the value of a Wesley Woods Camp experience with your friends and neighbors.

2. Sponsor A Child’s Experience

Many of our campers are only able to experience camp because of the kindness of donors who sponsor their camp experience. If you had a positive experience at camp and would like to offer that life-changing opportunity to others, here are a few suggestions:(Sponsor a child in your own community or church. Or Send a tax-deductible gift to the Iowa Camp Office and 100 percent of your gift will sponsor a child or youth attending camp.)

3. More Than 80 Ministry Jobs Available

WANTED: Caring Christians to serve as counselors, nurses, cooks, lifeguards, and more to make a positive difference in the lives of our campers. Summer Staff must be 18+ and Junior Staff volunteers 16+. Summer Staff positions are paid and include room, board, and training. For an application contact the campsite of your choice

4. Join the Kindling Club

The best way to start a fire is to start small. Campfires are built using small sticks and twigs called kindling.  With proper kindling a strong campfire can be built quickly. The Kindling Program supports the Operational Expenses of Iowa United Methodists Camps. When you designate your gift to go to Wesley Woods you help our fires of Faith, Friendship and Fun grow and glow brightly into the future.

If you have questions about the Kindling Club or finances within the Iowa United Methodist Camps, please contact Bryan Johnson, Director of Camps at bryan.johnson@iaumc.org
